As well as producing a straightforward translation, you can have a breakdown of alternative words that Blitz Latin has discarded in its version. This greatly improves the potential accuracy of difficult texts. You can also view the syntax used in the text not just as a further method of understanding difficult texts but also as a way of learning more about the underlying structure of Latin. There are a number of additional modules included with Blitz Latin: - Counter is a program that counts Latin words in a text, and provides statistical analysis of word densities in sentences and standard deviations. These can be used to compare whether authors of two different Latin texts (or texts of other languages) used similar or different frequencies of words per sentence.
- Inscript is an extremely fast means for searching the database of inscriptions held at Frankfurt University ( www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~clauss/index-e.html ). It cannot be used to search the inscriptions over the Internet; the inscriptions must first be downloaded to your hard-drive.
- HTMSTRIP provides a fast and convenient method to convert bulk HTM or HTML files into the corresponding text files. For example, if you download Latin texts from the Latin Library or from the Augsburg site, you will probably find it very tedious to use your web browser to convert each file, one at a time, to the corresponding textfile.
